• Counsel Looking Into Agreement Between Whale's Beach House, Town (swampscotttides.org) — Swampscott officials are reviewing exactly how much of Whales Beach must remain open to the public after "no trespassing" signs appeared and some were later removed. Town counsel and the Conservation Commission are reexamining past court rulings and a homeowner agreement to clarify which sections are private while stressing that people should still be able to walk between Whales Beach and Eisman's Beach.

Swampscott is mentioned among schools using the soft helmet covers in scrimmages, as coaches and medical experts push for better concussion monitoring and full-time athletic trainers in every public high school.
