• Rhythm & Strings Event Raising Money for 2 Local Food Pantries (watertownmanews.com) — Watertown residents are invited to a music and dance fundraiser at the Watertown Free Public Library on Oct. 4, supporting the Watertown Food Pantry and Belmont Helps. A Belmont High School student has organized an hour-long program featuring local string musicians, an Indian classical dancer, and student performers, with attendees encouraged to bring food or cash/Venmo donations.
   

• West Nile Virus human cases climb in MA (westernmassnews.com) — Watertown is currently listed among the Massachusetts communities at high risk for West Nile Virus, as state health officials report eleven human cases statewide, mostly in Middlesex and Suffolk counties. Residents are urged to stay cautious until the first hard frost, since mosquito activity and virus transmission can continue into the fall despite cooler nights.
