$1M Lottery Ticket Sold At Central MA Convenience Store

WORCESTER, MA — A massive lottery prize was sold at a local business in Worcester this week.

A $1 million prize was sold at a convenience store in the city, Edgemere Mini Mart on Tuesday, Apr. 21. The prize was one of the Massachusetts State Lottery's "$2,000,000 Diamond Cashword" scratch game.

To win this scratch-off, a player reveals the 20 “YOUR LETTERS” and matches them to both Cashword puzzles to find complete words of at least three letters in unbroken horizontal or vertical lines. If the player uncovers two or more valid words in a puzzle, they win the corresponding prize, with only the highest prize per puzzle counting.

The odds of winning the $1 million prize in this game are 1 in more than 2.5 million. So far, 5 of the 10 available $1 million prizes have been claimed, along with 2 of the 5 $2 million top prizes.

Earlier this year, a $2 million prize from the scratch game was sold in Leominster on Jan. 2, and last year, Greasy Wheel Trust of Worcester claimed another $1 million prize from the same game.

The state lottery commission has not yet shared who won the prize on Tuesday, but the retailer that sells a winning ticket typically receives a bonus from the Lottery.
