2 Displaced After Worcester House Fire

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

WORCESTER, MA — Two people were displaced Monday morning after a fire broke out inside a Lake Avenue North home, according to the Worcester Fire Department.

Firefighters were called at about 8:20 a.m. to 237 Lake Ave. North for a report of a house fire. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming from a two-story single-family home and began an immediate interior attack, officials said.

Firefighters found flames in the attic, but conditions worsened as crews worked inside. Officials determined the fire had spread into void spaces on the second floor, prompting crews to briefly pull out of the house to extinguish visible flames from outside.

Once that fire was knocked down, crews went back inside to overhaul the home and fully extinguish the remaining fire. The fire was under control in about 40 minutes, according to the department.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
