DCU Center Reschedules Concert Amid Snowstorm

A Brazilian musical duo was scheduled to perform at the arena and convention in Worcester over the weekend.

WORCESTER, MA — A Brazilian musical duo scheduled to perform at the DCU Center in Worcester over the weekend has been postponed to next month.

Jorge & Mateus, known as being one of the most famous interepreters of sertanejo music, a style that has origins to the early 20th centtury Brazilian countryside, was originally scheduled to play at the DCU Center at 50 Foster St. on Sunday, Jan. 25. The show has since been rescheduled to Sunday, Feb. 7, amid the biggest snowstorm Massachusetts has seen in a few years.

The show will now kick off on Feb. 7 at 8:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.

All ticket purchases will be honored for the new date, and no action is required for those who plan to attend the Feb. 7 show, the DCU Center said. The arena and convention center also said ticketholders can request a refund through Ticketmaster or their original point of purchase. All refunds must be requested by Feb. 7.

"We appreciate your understanding and look forward to welcoming Jorge & Mateus to Worcester for an unforgettable night of Brazilian music," the DCU Center wrote in a statement.

The winter storm warning remains in effect from 7 a.m. Sunday to 8 p.m. Monday. In Worcester, cold temperatures with wind chills as low as -20 degrees Fahrenheit, along with heavy snowfall of 18 to 25 inches, are expected.

As of Monday at 10 a.m., a total of 18.6 inches of snow has fallen in Worcester, according to the latest storm totals from CBS Boston. And, more snow is expected to fall throughout the day on Monday.

Worcester Public Schools was also closed on Monday, and the city's Winter Weather Emergency declaration remains in effect.
