The school's police department became the first community college in Massachusetts to receive the designation in 2017.

WORCESTER, MA — The Quinsigamond Community College Police Department has earned state accreditation for the third time.
The Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission renewed the department’s accreditation following an independent review of its policies, procedures, training programs, evidence management, community engagement efforts and organizational practices. “Accreditation is an important milestone because it strengthens public trust, promotes continuous improvement and reinforces our commitment to providing a safe and welcoming environment where students, faculty, staff and visitors can learn, work and thrive,” QCC President Luis Pedraja said.
Commission-appointed assessors, typically police chiefs and accreditation managers, conduct on-site evaluations as part of the accreditation process. The commission’s standards are based on those of the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, which was established in 1979.

QCC Police Chief Stephen DiGiovanni said the review allows the department to examine its operations and ensure it is meeting recognized professional standards.
“It validates our commitment to professionalism, transparency and excellence in service,” DiGiovanni said. “It also helps us identify areas where we can continue to improve and adapt to the evolving needs of our community.”
DiGiovanni credited the department’s officers and staff with securing the latest accreditation.
“Accreditation is not simply an award,” he said. “It is a commitment to excellence that guides how we serve our community every day.”
