Worcester Household Hazardous Waste Day Set For July
Worcester residents will have a chance this month to dispose of certain hazardous household materials by appointment.
WORCESTER, MA — Worcester residents will have a chance this month to dispose of certain hazardous household materials by appointment.
The city’s next Household Hazardous Waste Day will run from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 18, at the Residential Drop-Off Center, 1065 Millbury St. Residents must schedule an appointment in advance here.
Acceptable items include waste fuels, kerosene, gasoline, engine degreaser, brake fluid, antifreeze, oil-based paints, stains, varnishes, paint thinner, solvents, wood preservatives, roofing tar, pool chemicals, insecticides, fungicides, chemical fertilizers, weed killer and other listed household, car, lawn and garden materials.
The city will not accept latex paint, empty containers, waste motor oil, smoke detectors, commercial or industrial waste from businesses or contractors, ammunition, fireworks, explosives, household batteries, prescription medicines, tires, asbestos, propane tanks, radioactive waste, infectious or biological waste, or shock-sensitive materials.
Worcester officials also said sharps should be disposed of in designated sharps containers marked with the universal biohazard warning symbol.
