• Meet Birmingham's new police chief (candgnews.com) — Birmingham has a new top cop: longtime officer Ryan Kearney has been officially sworn in as police chief after serving as interim following Scott Grewe's retirement. With 23 years on the force, he says his priorities include boosting downtown presence, ensuring adequate staffing and resources, and strengthening relationships between the department, residents, and local businesses.
   

• Football Roundup: Clarkston outlasts Stoney Creek, 14-7 (theoaklandpress.com) — Birmingham football fans got plenty to cheer about as Seaholm crushed Royal Oak 50-7 and Groves rolled past Berkley 49-6, both evening their records at 1-1. Standout performances included Seaholm's multi-touchdown outings from several players and Groves' Jeremiah Whitley racking up 144 rushing yards and four scores on just six carries.
