Heaters were brought in to help keep the man warm while crews cleared the debris. They were able to free the man from the car within 2 hours, officials said.
Though it appeared he wasn't injured, he was still taken to a nearby hospital for an evaluation, officials said.
"I want to thank the firefighters and the Western Wayne team for their professionalism and all their hard work," Dearborn Fire Chief JosephMurray said. "It was very, very cold yesterday and they did a phenomenal job given the adverse conditions and the snow and ice and really working hard to get this young man out."
The garage is now blocked and officials asked the public to stay away from the area because the structure is not physically sound.
