1 Dead In 8-Car Wrong-Way Crash On Telegraph Road In Metro Detroit: Police

Police determined speed played a role in the crash.

REDFORD TOWNSHIP, MI — A man was killed and multiple others were injured in a wrong-way crash in Wayne County on Sunday, according to police.

The crash happened at 11 p.m. Sunday on Telegraph Road near Five Mile Road in Redford Township, according to police.

Police said a 40-year-old man was driving a burgundy Durango north in the southbound lanes on Telegraph when he struck two cars.

The Durango continued speeding the wrong way until it struck another vehicle head-on at the traffic light near the Five Mile turnaround, according to police.

The impact of the crash also struck multiple other vehicles at the traffic light, according to police.

Overall, eight vehicles were involved in the crash, according to police.

The 40-year-old man who was driving the Durango was taken to Corewell Farmington Hills hospital where he died, according to police.

Everyone else involved in the crash suffered minor or no injuries, according to police.

Police determined speed played a role in the crash and were still investigating the crash.
