1 Injured In Overnight Detroit Freeway Shooting: Police

Police did not immediately identify a suspect or a motive for the shooting.

DETROIT — One person was injured in an overnight shooting on a Detroit freeway, according to Michigan State Police.

The shooting happened at 1:57 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 94 between Chalmers Street and Harper Avenue, according to police.

Police said the victim arrived at a nearby hospital with gunshot wounds, and their vehicle was also struck several times by gunfire.

The freeway has since reopened.

"Gun violence continues to impact our communities and put innocent lives at risk," police said in a statement. "We urge anyone with information related to this incident to contact law enforcement. Working together, we can help make our roads and neighborhoods safer for everyone."
