Strong Storms Possible Across Metro Detroit Thursday

All of southeastern Michigan remains under a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather Thursday.

It will be a hot and humid Thursday with thunderstorms developing across the metro Detroit area, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters expect the storms to move into the region sometime between 2 and 8 p.m. when highs reach the upper 80s.

The strongest storms will be capable of producing heavy downpours and strong wind gusts reaching up to 60 miles per hour, according to NWS.

They warned some storms and scattered showers could linger into the overnight hours.

Drier, less humid air will settle in across the metro region on Friday with highs reaching the 80s, according to NWS.

The weekend will feel mostly the same before temperatures climb back into the 90s to start next week, according to NWS.

That stretch of hot weather could last for days next week, setting the stage for another heat wave across the region, according to NWS.
