• Commercial Kitchen Fire In Downtown Howell Wednesday Afternoon (whmi.com) — A kitchen fire at Cello Italian Restaurant in downtown Howell briefly disrupted traffic on East Grand River and has forced the restaurant to close for at least a week. Fire officials say employees knocked down the blaze with extinguishers, but nonworking hood suppression systems and needed ventilation repairs must be fixed before reopening, and health and building inspectors have been notified.
   

• Innovation Academy enrolls 8 Hispanic students in 2024-25 (livingstontoday.com) — Innovation Academy, part of Howell Public Schools, enrolled eight Hispanic students in 2024–25, a modest increase that brings Hispanic representation to just over 4% of its 186 students. Districtwide, Howell High School has the largest Hispanic enrollment, while statewide funding increases and continued free meals and pre-K support shape the resources available to local families.
   

• Foundation recognizes Woolford for fighting waste (thelivingstonpost.com) — State Rep. Jason Woolford, who represents the Howell area, has been honored with a national Rising Star Award for his work to reduce waste, fraud, and abuse in Michigan government. He says he'll keep pushing for stronger oversight and more transparent use of taxpayer dollars, arguing that every misused dollar is taken from residents and essential services.
