More charges facing suspects in Shelby Twp. home break-in (macombdaily.com) — Macomb County prosecutors have added a serious assault charge against two Pontiac men accused of breaking into a Shelby Township home, attacking a resident, and stealing electronics and trading cards. The suspects now face multiple felonies, including home invasion and unlawful imprisonment, and are due in Macomb County Circuit Court in mid-September.
   

2. Warren man, 24, pleads guilty to manslaughter in fatal 2025 stabbing (cbsnews.com) — Macomb County prosecutors say a 24-year-old Warren man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in a 2025 fatal stabbing, with a second-degree murder charge to be dropped at sentencing. The plea sets up an October hearing where he faces up to 15 years in prison for the deadly incident at a Warren home.
   

3. Ex-judge to lead Macomb County Prosecutor's Conviction Integrity Unit (detroitnews.com) — Macomb County's Conviction Integrity Unit is getting new leadership as former circuit judge and ex-assistant prosecutor Mary Chrzanowski takes over reviewing innocence claims and new evidence in past cases. The unit, created by Prosecutor Pete Lucido, has already helped exonerate at least one man and secured federal funding to expand DNA reviews, with Chrzanowski now tasked with strengthening public confidence in local convictions.
   

4. Metro Detroit's flood cleanups continue in courtrooms, boardrooms as plans take shape (theoaklandpress.com) — Macomb County is at the center of Metro Detroit's worsening flooding and sewage battles, with millions of gallons of overflow routed through local drains into the Clinton River. Ongoing lawsuits, state enforcement actions, and a new regional task force could reshape how Macomb and neighboring counties share responsibility and pay for massive infrastructure upgrades over the next several years.
   

5. Detroit News Super 25 high school football rankings: Week 2 (detroitnews.com) — Macomb Dakota's football team debuts at No. 21 in the Detroit News statewide Super 25 after a competitive 30-20 loss to No. 4 Birmingham Brother Rice in Week 1. The rankings highlight how Macomb County's top programs stack up against powerhouses from Detroit, Oakland County, and across Michigan heading into Week 2.
