📰 News we're reading

• Pre-kindergarten shows results, District 191 says (hometownsource.com) — Families in Burnsville's District 191 are hearing encouraging news about voluntary pre-kindergarten: most participants continue into Burnsville-Eagan-Savage schools and consistently outperform peers in early reading and third-grade assessments. With more than 300 students enrolled and expanded language-responsive programs, district leaders say these early childhood options are helping keep families in the district and closing opportunity gaps.

• Electric vehicle infrastructure (state.mn.us) — Burnsville drivers now have a federally funded fast-charging station at I-35, Exit 88B on Nicollet Court, part of Minnesota's growing National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure network. MnDOT is opening a new funding round this fall, aiming to add up to 40 more sites statewide and expand convenient long-distance EV travel options for residents and visitors.

• Experience abounds for Jefferson girls tennis (hometownsource.com) — Jefferson's girls tennis team opened its season with a strong 3-0 start, including a 6-1 victory over Burnsville on August 25. With 11 returning varsity players and several home matches ahead, the experienced Jaguars are leaning on flexible lineups and intensive summer workouts to build on last year's winning record.
