Omaha curbside composting program pushes for more sign-ups (wowt.com) — Omaha's curbside composting program is four months in and looking for many more households to join, aiming to grow from 300 to 1,600 homes by year's end. Run by Hillside Solutions, the service turns Omaha food and yard waste into compost for Nebraska farms, helping reduce fertilizer costs and support healthier soil.
   

2. Developers give update on Omaha Crossroads project (wowt.com) — Developers and city leaders say the long-delayed Crossroads project at 72nd and Dodge is moving ahead, with plans for housing, entertainment, and a new Omaha police and fire headquarters. The $180 million headquarters depends heavily on a November bond issue, leaving nearby residents cautiously hopeful after years of stalled redevelopment.

A steel 'slinky' landmark illuminates Omaha's riverfront (metalarchitecture.com) — A striking new steel play structure called The Adventure Path is lighting up Lewis and Clark Landing on Omaha's riverfront, offering a winding elevated route with dramatic nighttime illumination. Designers used heavy-duty steel, extensive safety netting, and corrosion-resistant coatings to create a durable, climbable landmark that doubles as a family-friendly playground and visual icon.

North High counselor Ronald Parker retires after more than 4 decades of inspiring others (3newsnow.com) — Students, staff, and neighbors recently gathered in Omaha to celebrate North High School counselor Ronald Parker as he retires after more than 40 years of inspiring young people. Parker helped lead the school's 21st Century program, offering tutoring, family literacy, and credit recovery opportunities. He hopes his legacy of kindness, service, and support continues to strengthen the North Omaha community.
   

5. Community remembers Cpl. Daegan Page, killed in Kabul airport attack (wowt.com) — Omaha residents are marking five years since Cpl. Daegan Page, a Millard South graduate, was killed in the Kabul airport attack during the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. Family and loved ones say the loss still feels raw, but his legacy lives on through shared stories and a Sarpy County K-9 named in his honor. They hope his example of service and love continues to guide the community.
