Former Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert says scaled-back Tranquility Park plan defeats original purpose (wowt.com) — Plans to redevelop Omaha's Tranquility Park into a major youth sports complex have been scaled back after costs nearly doubled and the state denied a key turnback tax request. Former Mayor Jean Stothert says cutting baseball and softball fields and shrinking nearby hotel and retail plans undermines the original goal of hosting large tournaments and driving new revenue to northwest Omaha. 
2. Omaha City Council to vote on TIF changes amid affordable housing concerns (wowt.com) — Omaha's City Council will vote Tuesday on a tax-increment financing policy change that could require developers to replace demolished housing and slightly incentivize affordable units. Supporters call it a first step toward tying TIF to affordability, while neighborhood advocates argue it's too weak and want stronger requirements and more community input on how millions in public dollars are spent.
3. 2025-26 INBRE Scholars honored at research event (unmc.edu) — Omaha's research community is spotlighted as the Richard Holland Future Scientist Awards honor students statewide, including a University of Nebraska at Omaha researcher studying chronic inflammation in certain pancreatic tumors. The program, named for Omaha philanthropist Richard Holland, recognizes promising biomedical work across several Nebraska campuses.
4. Cornhuskers take home $1 million prize in inaugural Spikes Under The Light Game (3newsnow.com) — Cornhusker volleyball fans packed Set the Bar in Benson to watch Nebraska win a historic $1 million "Spikes Under the Lights" tournament, the largest prize in women's college sports. Supporters say the real win is how the team unites Omaha, boosts visibility for women's athletics, and inspires young women who once felt discouraged from sports.

UPDATE from Westgate Animal Clinic: they have not heard back from the owners. … (Nextdoor Westgate) - This little babe around 8 weeks old was found around noon today as a stray under a car in my driveway My neighbor was able to rescue it and took it to the Nebraska Humane Society.
