Omaha Public Schools board to vote on property tax levy increase for district homeowners (3newsnow.com) — Omaha homeowners could see higher property tax bills if the Omaha Public Schools board approves an 8-cent levy increase tied to a $50.6 million drop in state aid. One northwest Omaha resident estimates paying about $900 more as the board meets tonight to decide the 2026–27 budget and how to close the district's funding gap.

Neighbor describes watching Omaha firefighters use an axe to enter home on fire where body was found (3newsnow.com) — Omaha firefighters quickly knocked down a house fire near 97th and Maple Streets but discovered a body while searching the home afterward. Investigators from the Omaha Fire and Police Departments are now working to determine what caused the blaze and how the person inside died, as neighbors describe the intense smoke and firefighters forcing entry with an axe.

Parents report AC issues in Omaha Public Schools' classrooms (wowt.com) — Omaha Public Schools families are raising concerns about uncomfortably hot classrooms, with some parents and teachers saying AC problems have lingered for weeks despite work orders. District leaders acknowledge aging buildings and limited maintenance capacity but insist they aim to keep rooms within a researched 68–74 degree range. Crews are prioritizing hundreds of daily work orders across more than 100 OPS buildings.
   

5. Clarkson College unveils $15 million campus upgrade to support future healthcare workers (3newsnow.com) — Clarkson College in midtown Omaha has completed a $15 million campus upgrade, adding a welcome center, modern classrooms, labs, and a new courtyard. City leaders, including Omaha's mayor, say the project will boost the local economy while strengthening the pipeline of Nebraska's future healthcare workers as demand for medical professionals continues to grow.

  • Last night was Elkhorn North homecoming, my daughter and 3 of her friends, all freshman girls dressed up and had dinner at the new Japanese restaurant Osaka by maple and 180 by themselves .
