U.S. labor secretary visits Vegas Loop tunnels, touts workforce program (fox5vegas.com) — Las Vegas is being highlighted by the U.S. labor secretary as a national model for how local workers can build and keep high‑skill jobs tied to the expanding Vegas Loop tunnels under the Convention Center and Strip. He promoted a new federal Workforce Pell program that helps valley residents quickly train for tunnel construction trades, stressing that American workers in the Las Vegas Valley should lead this next wave of transportation infrastructure.
   

2. Las Vegas unemployment rises even as valley adds 7,000 jobs over one month (ktnv.com) — Unemployment in the Las Vegas Valley ticked up to 5.4% in July even as more than 7,000 people found jobs, a sign analysts say reflects more residents reentering the workforce. Local mayors highlight incoming employers and strong year-over-year job growth, though some job seekers still report long, frustrating searches in a market where skills don't always match open positions.
   

3. New Strip bypass intersection approved at Russell and Las Vegas Boulevard (news3lv.com) — Drivers on the south Strip will see a major change as a new bypass intersection at Russell Road and Las Vegas Boulevard has been approved, the first new Strip intersection in 60 years. The project will link I-15 to a new four-lane route connecting Haven Street, Koval Lane, and Tropicana Avenue, aiming to ease congestion, especially for travelers from California, with construction expected to take 18 months.
   

4. Faith-based learning center returns to Historic Westside with new facility (fox5vegas.com) — A longtime youth nonprofit is reopening a learning center in Las Vegas' Historic Westside, bringing homework help, literacy support, and leadership programs back to the neighborhood where it began. Club Christ, founded by a UNLV student two decades ago, now runs five centers across the valley and is seeking local volunteers and donors to keep its free programs going for elementary students and teens.
