FC Berna-Legacy Announces 2026 Kimzey Memorial Scholarship Winners

FC Berna-Legacy is proud to announce Nicole Gebert and Oliver Perks as the recipients of the 2026 FC Berna-Legacy Kimzey Memorial Scholarship. Selected from a competitive pool of applications, both seniors are graduating from Ridge High School and were chosen for their exceptional personal growth, dedication and high standard of sportsmanship throughout their many years with the club.

The scholarship was established to honor the enduring memory of Jack Kimzey, a dedicated soccer player and valued former member of our club who passed away in 2006. In partnership with the Kimzey family and club supporters, the annual award recognizes student-athletes who embody Jack's passion for the game and commitment to character.

This year marks a momentous milestone: the 20th anniversary of the scholarship endowment. In honor of two decades of supporting youth athletes in their higher education journeys, this year the club increased each scholarship amount to $2,000.

Nicole Gebert is a 4 season veteran of FC Berna-Legacy. She has demonstrated remarkable leadership and a true "team-first" mentality both on the pitch and in the classroom, overcoming multiple knee surgeries along the way. She will be continuing her academic and soccer career this fall at The University of Scranton, where she will play collegiate soccer and pursue a career in Physical Therapy.

Oliver Perks has played with the club for 12 years. He was also recognized for his composure under pressure as a Ridge High School team captain. In addition to his own play, he gives back to the sport as a volunteer with the Parents of Exceptional Children (PEC) program, working with children with special needs. He will attend The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) as a Business Management major.
