Greater Somerset County YMCA Kicks Off 2026 Annual Campaign to Raise Funds to Ensure Access for All

As a single parent of two children, ages 8 and 10, Shantasia knows how critical dependable childcare is to keep her family stable. With the rising cost of living and children too young to stay home alone, maintaining consistent, reliable after-school care is essential for her ability to work and support her household.

Thanks to the YMCA’s Financial Assistance Program, Shantasia was able to enroll her children in the Y’s after-school program, ensuring they are in a safe, structured, and supportive environment each day. At pickup, her children often ask to stay longer, a reflection of the caring staff, meaningful friendships, and positive experiences they’ve found at the Y.

Stories like Shantasia’s are made possible through the YMCA’s Annual Campaign, which raises critical funds to provide financial assistance so that individuals and families regardless of age, income, background, or ability have equal access to life-changing programs and services based on demonstrated need.

“Our Annual Campaign raises critical funds to ensure that cost is never a barrier to accessing vital programs and services across our communities,” said President and Chief Executive Officer David M. Carcieri. “Because of generous donors, children, families, and individuals can participate in the YMCA and build healthier, more connected lives. Every gift expands access to programs that help people learn, grow, and thrive.”

Greater Somerset County YMCA officially kicked off its 2026 Annual Campaign on February 11 and invites individuals, community members, and businesses, to join its mission to ensure that people of all ages and backgrounds have equal access programs that inspire children and teens, improve health, and uplift neighbors.

The public phase of this year’s campaign runs February through April and encourages donors to make a one-time gift or monthly pledge. Every contribution helps ensure financial barriers never prevent someone from participating in YMCA programs.

Across its seven branches, Greater Somerset County YMCA aims to raise $1,455,000 million through this year’s Annual Campaign. The Y will also host its Annual Campaign Celebration and Spirit Awards on April 8 from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM at Raritan Valley Country Club.
