South Jersey Woman Admits Assault, Stalking, Flight From Police

A plea filed in Atlantic County calls for four years in state prison across three pending cases.

MAYS LANDING, NJ — An Absecon woman admitted guilt in multiple different cases, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

Dariana Gonzalez-Colon, 32, pleaded guilty to third-degree aggravated assault against a domestic violence victim, fourth-degree stalking and fourth-degree resisting arrest by flight. The plea calls for a sentence of four years in New Jersey State Prison.

The charges stem from incidents in Absecon and Atlantic City in September and October 2025. According to officials, Absecon police were dispatched Sept. 15, 2025, to the intersection of New Jersey Avenue and Station Avenue for a report of a stolen motor vehicle. Officers approached the caller, described in the document as a bystander, who had found the victim injured on the sidewalk.

The victim told police she had given Gonzalez-Colon, identified as her romantic partner, permission to use her car earlier but later asked for it back. When the victim asked for the vehicle to be returned, Gonzalez-Colon became violent and assaulted her, according to authorities. Gonzalez-Colon then left in the victim's vehicle, leaving the victim behind.

On Oct. 2, 2025, Atlantic City police were dispatched to 1501 Atlantic Avenue for a report of a domestic dispute. The same victim reported that Gonzalez-Colon was continuing to harass her on multiple days and that she feared Gonzalez-Colon would harm her, according to officials.

On Oct. 11, 2025, Absecon officers on routine patrol found the victim's vehicle parked at a nearby Travelodge Motel. Motel staff told officers the victim had checked out the previous day with Gonzalez-Colon, according to officials. Officers then approached the vehicle and found Gonzalez-Colon inside.

Still needing to formally process Gonzalez-Colon on the Sept. 15 incident, officers told her she was under arrest, according to authorities. Gonzalez-Colon exited the vehicle and attempted to flee, but officers apprehended her after a short pursuit and took her into custody.

Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 8, 2026.
