• $5M-$10M Cross Street Reconstruction Project Moves Ahead In Lakewood (patch.com) — Lakewood drivers could see major changes along Cross Street as Ocean County moves ahead with a $5 million to $10 million reconstruction and widening project between Prospect Street and Augusta Boulevard. The work will add stormwater upgrades, a new traffic signal, and utility relocations, with bids due Oct. 20, though no construction start date has been announced.
   

• 4-Year-Old Girl Hit, Killed By Van In Lakewood: Report (patch.com) — Lakewood residents are learning more about a heartbreaking incident in which 4-year-old Ayala Niasoff was fatally struck by a work van at a home in town on Sept. 11. According to a report, the van's driver, identified as 50-year-old Joseph Niasoff, discovered the child under the vehicle after feeling a bump, and she later died at the hospital.
   

• Lakewood Township faces cutbacks and future layoffs to balance budget (burlingtoncountytimes.com) — Lakewood officials have approved a 2026 budget that closes a $7 million gap with an immediate hiring freeze, overtime cuts, and other reductions, yet still raises the average municipal tax bill by about $541 per home. After several years of rapid hiring to keep up with explosive population growth, the township is now preparing a layoff plan and warning residents to expect service impacts next year.
