With strong hitting from Catherine Dalon and steady setting by Ryleigh Tietjen, the Rams controlled play from the service line and back row, giving local fans plenty to cheer about.
   

• Chowder Cook-Off Welcomes (Back) Newcomers From Near and Far (thesandpaper.net) — A Manahawkin favorite, 39 Degrees North Diner, is gearing up to represent the town at the Beach Haven Chowder Cook-Off on Sunday, Oct. 4, competing in the Manhattan clam chowder category. Chef Diego Sanchez plans to cook massive batches in Manahawkin and carefully transport them across the bay, as the weekend-long festival promises food, shopping, and plenty of friendly rivalry.
   

• Barnegat Quakers to Host Walk for Peace (thesandpaper.net) — A Manahawkin resident, Barbara Reynolds, is helping lead a silent peace walk along Barnegat's Branch Trail this Sunday, Sept. 27, inviting neighbors of all backgrounds to join. The Barnegat Quakers' 2-mile walk, plus their monthly Sunday peace walks, aim to foster inner calm and community connection close to home.
