• YMCA of the Jersey Shore Invites Community to 'Passport to Wellness' Open House on Sept. 25 (patch.com) — A free "Passport to Wellness" open house is coming to YMCA Counseling & Social Services at 166 Main Street in Matawan on Friday, Sept. 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents can meet local mental health professionals, explore youth, family, recovery and senior support programs, enjoy refreshments, and even enter a door-prize drawing, with RSVPs encouraged but walk-ins welcome.

• Couple names son after friend killed on Sept. 11 (starnewsgroup.com) — A 9/11 victim originally from Matawan, George McLaughlin, is being honored by close friends Kevin and Michele Collins, who named their son George in his memory. Now 20 and in college, the younger George carries forward the legacy of a beloved practical joker and "center of the wheel" as the attacks' 25th anniversary approaches.
