2 Burglaries In Montclair: Apartment Sitter Reports Crime, Vacant Home Invaded
Two home burglaries were recently reported in Montclair, authorities say – here's what happened.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — Two home burglaries were reported in Montclair last week, authorities say.
The Montclair Police Department released the following details about each incident:
Feb. 5 (Trinity Place) – “[A woman] reported that she was apartment-sitting a friend’s apartment on Trinty Place. She reported that she entered the building to conduct a check on the apartment and discovered the front door slightly ajar. A check of the apartment revealed missing medication and paperwork. A full inventory of stolen items was not available as the tenant was not on scene.”

Feb. 7 (Christopher Street) – “Officers responded to a Christopher Street residence on a report of a burglary that occurred in the past. The residence was vacant and was being shown by a realtor. Painters who were contracted to do work at the home arrived and discovered a rear door that appeared to have been opened by force. The incident likely occurred between 5 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday. Officers discovered several bedroom drawers had been rummaged through. A full list of stolen items is unavailable until the homeowners return.”
