A Montclair resident woke up when her home alarm system went off. Here's what happened next, police say.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — A Montclair resident recently woke up to find two strangers in her home, authorities say.
According to the Montclair Police Department, the incident took place Saturday on Lorraine Avenue.
The resident told officers that she woke up when she heard her home alarm system go off. When she walked downstairs to investigate, she saw two unknown men in the foyer of her home.

The men fled the scene when the resident screamed, authorities said.
The suspects made entry by forcing open the door that leads to the foyer. They also tried to enter the resident’s 2025 BMW X7 prior to entering the home, police said.

According to police, the men were wearing dark-colored clothing, masks and gloves. No additional information was immediately available.
