'Rank The Desserts' Election Event In Montclair Will Serve Up A Tasty Lesson In Politics

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Want to learn more about “ranked choice” voting? An upcoming event in Montclair will give voters a civics lesson ahead of the 2026 midterm election using a tasty metaphor: dessert.

Studio Montclair will host “Rank the Desserts” with assistance from Voter Choice New Jersey on Thursday, Oct. 22 at the Leach Gallery, 641 Bloomfield Avenue. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the event begins at 7 p.m.

The nonpartisan event will explain ranked-choice voting and how it works in the election process. After the presentation, guests will get a chance to sample some desserts and vote for their favorite using the ranked-choice method.

Admission is free, but online RSVPs are requested (reserve a spot here).

The event is being held in conjunction with Studio Montclair’s “We the People” exhibition.
