Boy, 14, Dead After Skateboarding Accident In North Jersey, Cops Say

The incident is still under investigation.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A teenager is dead following a skateboarding accident in Morris County this weekend, police say.

On Friday, around 5:45 p.m., first responders were called to the intersection of Hopper Avenue and Woodland Court in Pequannock Township on reports of an accident.

Authorities learned that a 14-year-old boy had sustained a major head injury while skateboarding, police said.

Investigators said he fell off the skateboard and hit his head on the pavement.

After EMTs provided treatment on the scene, he was rushed to Morristown Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, according to authorities.

Police are withholding the teen's name due to his status as a minor and out of respect for his family.

The circumstances of his death remain under investigation by the Pequannock Township Police Department.
