• Freight railroad mega-merger draws scrutiny from NJ Transit, commuter agencies (nj.com subscription) — NJ Transit is warning that a proposed Union Pacific–Norfolk Southern mega‑merger could affect commuter service on several lines, including the Morristown Line many locals rely on. While the railroads insist train counts will not increase, NJ Transit says it still lacks data on how added freight rights might impact schedules and reliability for New Jersey riders.
