Let Your Voice Be Heard With Parsippany's New Community Input System

Through the new online platform, users can submit proposals to improve Parsippany, and other residents can vote on them.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — The Township of Parsippany has launched an online platform where users can propose ideas to improve the township, and others can vote on whether they agree or disagree.

“Ideas for Change,” launched on Monday in coordination with Change.org, is specifically meant for Parsippany residents. The free website requires users to sign up with a name, email, and ZIP code, and gives users the option to be anonymous or not when proposing ideas.

“This is a new online platform where residents like you can submit and vote on ideas submitted by fellow residents about how we can be a better Parsippany,” Mayor Pulkit Desai said in an announcement. “Ideas for Change aims to help us understand the issues that matter most to our residents, and provide policy solutions that create a meaningful impact on our township and communities.”

Since launching on Monday, roughly 15,284 votes have been cast on 286 ideas, as of Thursday morning.

“Stop the building, especially condos and warehouses. Our roads were not built to sustain the volume of traffic we now have to endure,” one idea reads.

“Township commitment to not allow data centers here,” reads another.

Once you “agree” or “disagree” with an idea (or skip it), the platform shows you how many votes each decision got. You can also hold onto your answer for a longer period of time, indicating how passionate you are about it.

“I believe that as your mayor, it is my job to listen first, and that is why community input is central to my decision-making process, and always will be,” Desai added.
