Parsippany To Celebrate Arbor Day, 50 Years As Tree City USA
Mayor Pulkit Desai invited residents to a Town Hall Arbor Day event marking 50 years as a Tree City USA community.
PARSIPPANY, NJ — Parsippany will hold its annual Arbor Day celebration on Thursday in front of Town Hall, where the township plans to mark 50 years as a Tree City USA community. The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. at 1001 Parsippany Blvd., according to the announcement.
Mayor Pulkit Desai invited residents to attend the program, which the township described as a day focused on “our community’s trees, environment, and beauty.” The announcement says the event will reflect on Parsippany’s “long-standing commitment to sustainability” as it recognizes the Tree City USA milestone.
Tree City USA is a recognition program with the initiative to raise awareness of the importance of trees in a neighborhood and increase the standards of community living.

“Since 1976, the Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City USA program has recognized communities of all sizes, from Sibley, North Dakota, to New York City,” an Arbor Day Foundation statement read. “Tree City USA national recognition helps communities demonstrate and promote their commitment to a greener place to call home.”
The township said one part of the celebration will center on local second-grade students. Seedlings will be distributed to the children so they can plant them at home.
