Theft By Deception, Criminal Attempt, Burglary: Princeton Police Blotter

The following is a summary of incidents as reported by Princeton Police:
PRINCETON, NJ - On July 11, at 11:03 p.m., Princeton PD conducted a motor vehicle stop on South Harrison Street for speeding. During the motor vehicle stop it was determined that the driver was found to have an active warrant out of the Atlantic County Central Court in the amount of $1,500. The 23-year-old was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and later released on his own recognizance after being issued a new court date by the Atlantic County Central Court.
On July 10, 2026, officers responded to the 400 block of Snowden Lane to investigate the report of a past tense theft. The victim reported that a diamond engagement ring and wedding ring, valued at approximately $35,000, was taken some time between Jan. 1 2026 and July 3, 2026. There are no suspects at this time.

On July 10, a resident reported that on July 9, they received a fraudulent text message from unknown suspect(s) impersonating Amex Security, advising them that their account had been compromised. The suspect(s) further contacted the victim via their cell phone, and impersonated a member of the victims Bank fraud investigation team, and advised them that $16,423.19 had been withdrawn from his account. The victim then gave the suspect(s) their online banking login credentials and was instructed to remain on speakerphone, go to a local bank, and withdraw $16,423.19 from their account. An unknown suspect later arrived at the victim’s house to collect the money. This theft is under investigation.
On July 11, officers responded to Billie Ellis Lane to investigate the report of a past tense attempted burglary/ criminal mischief. Upon their arrival, it was determined that an unknown person attempted to break into the residence by damaging the front door sometime between 12 p.m. on July 11 and 12:59a.m. on July 12. The suspect did not gain access to the residence. This incident is under further investigation.

On July 12, at 6:43 p.m. patrols responded to Basin Street to investigate the report of a past tense burglary and theft. Upon their arrival it was determined that an unknown actor entered the enclosed front porch of the victims residence between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. on July 12. The unknown suspect stole two Honda dirt bikes with a total value of $3,100. This theft is under investigation.
On July 12, at 04:26 p.m. patrols met with a woman at police headquarters who reported that she had recently applied for a US Bank credit card and was awaiting its arrival. The woman contacted the credit card company after not receiving the card and was advised that an unknown man attempted to activate the card but was unable to do so after failing to answer the security questions. This incident remains under investigation.
On July 14, at 2:36 a.m., Princeton PD located a man in the Tulane West Parking Lot with an open container of alcohol and littering. During the investigation it was discovered that the 35-year-old had provided a false name to the patrol officers. The Princeton resident was arrested for hindering apprehension and was also found to have an active warrant out of this jurisdiction. The man was taken to police headquarters where he was processed and later transported to the Mercer County Correctional Facility.
