Free ‘Ask E. Jean’ Screening, Director Q&A Coming To South Orange

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — South Orange moviegoers can catch a free documentary screening Thursday and hear directly from the filmmaker afterward.

A free screening of Ask E. Jean, directed by Ivy Meeropol, will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Box Office Cinemas, One SOPAC Way, according to the municipal calendar. Admission is free, but advance registration is required.

The film traces the life of E. Jean Carroll, from her early days as Miss Cheerleader USA to her work as a journalist, author and advice columnist. Organizers say it also examines how Carroll broke barriers for women in media and later became part of a national conversation about truth, accountability and resilience.

“You might know the headline. But you don’t know her story,” the village said in announcing the event.

Meeropol will participate in a live question-and-answer session following the film, giving audience members an opportunity to hear directly from the documentary’s director.

For South Orange residents, the program offers a free local opportunity to see a nationally focused documentary and hear from its director without traveling to New York City.

Residents can register online through the village’s recreation portal.
