Toms River Man Killed In Parkway Crash (patch.com) — Toms River residents are mourning after 57-year-old township resident Mark Edgell was killed when his Nissan SUV left the southbound Garden State Parkway near milepost 103.1 and struck a tree. State Police say the Thursday afternoon crash, reported around 4:45 p.m., remains under investigation as authorities work to determine what caused the vehicle to hit a guardrail and veer off the road.
   

2. Ocean County Parkway Improvements Set for Public Review (wbjb.org) — Parkway upgrades between mileposts 78.8 and 84.5 could significantly change how Toms River drivers access and exit the highway, with new ramps planned at Interchange 80 to ease crashes and congestion. Residents can review plans and speak directly with Turnpike Authority officials at a September 16 public hearing at the Ocean County Library's Toms River branch.
   

3. 25th Anniversary 9/11 Ceremony In Toms River Set (patch.com) — Ocean County officials and Toms River Volunteer Fire Company 1 will host a 25th anniversary 9/11 remembrance ceremony Friday at 9 a.m. at the Sept. 11 Memorial by 129 Hooper Ave. in Toms River. The event honors the nearly 3,000 victims, including 19 Ocean County residents, and is part of a full day of local and national commemorations, many with livestream options.

Toms River council changes law to get pay returned after mayor fight (app.com) — Toms River's council majority has voted 4–3 to change a training rule so their suspended salaries are restored, escalating an ongoing power struggle with Mayor Daniel Rodrick. The dispute centers on where required Faulkner Act training must be taken, with sharp exchanges during the meeting highlighting deeper tensions over authority, communication, and ethics in township government.
