• Westfield Welcomes New Shops & Restaurants, More Coming To Westfield (patch.com) — Downtown Westfield is buzzing with new energy as several restaurants, shops, and service businesses have recently opened on Broad, Quimby, Elm, South Avenue, and North Avenue, with more on the way. Mayor Jeremy Berman says the additions, from Thai Society and Bagel Cafe NJ to Framebridge and Glowbar, further strengthen Westfield's appeal as a dining and shopping destination.
   

• Safety Concerns At 2 Westfield Road Crossings Prompt Investigation (patch.com) — Two specific Westfield crossings—Kimball at Wychwood and Davis Court at East Broad—are under review after a resident runner raised safety concerns about visibility, missing crosswalks, and pedestrian risks. Town officials say they've already begun steps toward a traffic engineering study, especially important as days get shorter and more families use routes to Lenape Park and nearby schools.
   

• In Memory – September 24, 2026 (avma.org) — Westfield readers are notified of the passing of Dr. James D. Pulliam, a longtime Merck veterinary pathologist and Army Reserve colonel who lived in town and died July 16 at age 91. The obituary shares highlights of his career in veterinary pathology and military service, notes his surviving family, and suggests memorial contributions to Habitat for Humanity in nearby Plainfield.
