Event In Essex County Will Offer Wigs To Women Experiencing Hair Loss

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — An annual outreach event that provides wigs and styling tips to women experiencing hair loss will take place in East Orange.

The 10th annual “Covered with Compassion” event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 5 at CareWell Health Medical Center (east pavilion), 240 Central Avenue.

The event welcomes New Jersey women who are experiencing or have experienced hair loss, including those affected by cancer treatment, alopecia, or other health conditions. Attendees will be offered donated wigs, complimentary professional styling, massages, health education, medical screenings and beauty makeovers.

Any New Jersey woman who is losing or has lost her hair is welcome to attend. For more information or to RSVP, contact 973-395-1166.

“I witnessed firsthand how breast cancer affected my grandmother, and how even a simple makeover brought her joy,” said New Jersey Sen. Britnee Timberlake, a longtime supporter of the event.

“But beyond the wigs, makeup, and massages, this event is about honoring a woman’s inner beauty — her resilience, her courage, her spirit,” the senator added. “Whether she is navigating cancer, alopecia, or another health condition, she deserves to feel seen, supported and celebrated.”
