• Borough stars with Guttenberg, Brinkley, family in 'American Summer' (thepressgroup.net) — A new coming-of-age movie, "American Summer," was largely filmed around Westwood, showcasing local homes, downtown streets, and Five Dimes Brewery as part of a nationwide release on Sept. 4. Created by Westwood native Michael W. Gray, the PG-rated film draws heavily on his childhood here and highlights the borough's growing role as a "Film Ready" destination for major productions. 
• Stiffed on wages, railroad men stopped the trains (thepressgroup.net) — A 150-years-ago railroad strike on the Pascack Valley line brought trains to a standstill in Hillsdale and disrupted travel through Westwood, Emerson, and neighboring towns. Workers, unpaid for months, disabled locomotives and forced residents back to stagecoaches until a deal guaranteed regular cash wages, reshaping how local rail employees were paid.
