Reilly clears committee hurdle to lead Albany Law Department (timesunion.com) — Albany's Common Council Law Committee has advanced Mayor Dorcey Applyrs' nominee, 31-year-old John Reilly Jr., to lead the city's Law Department, sending his appointment to the full council with a positive recommendation. After pointed questions about his experience and a past lobbying contract, Reilly pledged independence from the mayor's office and said his priority would be building a strong legal team for the city.

(news10.com) — Parents in the Albany City School District can now turn to a new online FAQ to understand how artificial intelligence tools are being used in local classrooms and what students can access. Greta Van Fleet to play MVP Arena in Albany in March (star-telegram.com) — Greta Van Fleet is scheduled to bring their "Into The Beginning Tour" to Albany's MVP Arena on March 6, 2027, with The Kooks and Luna Li opening. Local fans can already register for a presale starting October 13, with regular tickets on sale October 15 at fixed face-value prices and a six-ticket limit per customer.

5. Fully Automatic Handgun Found After Albany Men Flee Traffic Stop, Police Say (dailyvoice.com) — Two Albany men face charges after police say a late-night traffic stop in Watervliet turned into a chase that ended in the City of Albany, where officers recovered two loaded handguns, one allegedly modified to fire fully automatic. One suspect was released with an appearance ticket, while the other was remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility.
