📰 News we're reading

• LI Company Recalls 68 Foods After Listeria Detected (patch.com) — Bay Shore residents should know that local producer Made Fresh Salads Inc. has recalled 68 deli-style salads, cream cheeses, tofu spreads and related items after Listeria was found in its facility. While no illnesses are reported, products with early- to mid-September expiration dates were distributed to New York City boroughs and may have been repackaged by retailers, so shoppers are urged to check purchases and return affected items for a refund.

• 103.1 The Wolf Launches New Morning Show With Peterson and Sergio (barrettmedia.com) — Bay Shore country fans will soon hear a brand-new local morning show on 103.1 The Wolf, replacing the syndicated "Big D & Bubba" program. Starting Sept. 10, New York radio veterans Cane Peterson and "Sabrina From Queens" Sergio will anchor mornings as part of a broader shakeup in the station's daily lineup.

• FDA Has Two Recall Pages. One Is a Bulletin Board, One Is the Record, and Neither Gives You a Number You Can Trust. (lexblog.com) — A recent recall by Made Fresh Salads of Bay Shore, which pulled deli salads and cream cheese over possible Listeria contamination, highlights how confusing FDA recall information can be for consumers. The piece explains that FDA maintains two different recall lists, why some serious recalls never get public announcements, and argues for clearer, mandatory public warnings.
