NYC Man Arrested On Arson Charge After 2 Dogs Killed In Fire At Parent's Long Island Home: Police
The animals were found dead after the fire was extinguished, Suffolk police say.
CENTRAL ISLIP, NY — A New York City man was arrested Saturday after Suffolk police say he set fire a fire that killed two dogs in at his parents' house in Central Islip.
Officers responded to a 911 call at 12:20 a.m. at the East Cherry Street home, and tried to save two dogs inside, but were unsuccessful, according to police.
Central Islip firefighters, along with other fire departments, extinguished the fire, and the two dogs were found dead, police said, adding that five officers were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

Following an investigation by Arson Squad detectives, the homeowners’ son, Robert Alston, 39, of Brooklyn, was charged with second-degree arson and burglary, as well as false personation, police said.
He has been scheduled to be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Central Islip.
