New York City to streamline B38 route in Brooklyn to increase bus speed (hanfordsentinel.com) — Bus riders in Brooklyn could soon see faster B38 trips as the city proposes new bus-only and protected bike lanes along Lafayette and DeKalb Avenues from Downtown Brooklyn through Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, and Bed-Stuy. The plan would remove or shift some weekday parking and a traffic lane in spots, with DOT aiming to finish changes before winter after community briefings this month.
   

2. Brooklyn welcomes students back to school (brooklyneagle.com) — Students across Brooklyn are back in class for the 2026–27 school year, with both public and Catholic schools opening on Sept. 10. Vintage vehicles, including a newly restored 1918 double-decker and a 9/11 memorial bus, will be on display alongside trivia, a scavenger hunt, and a pop-up Transit Museum shop.
   

4. 11 vigils mark 25 years since attacks across Marine Park and Bay Ridge • Brooklyn Paper (brooklynpaper.com) — Brooklyn neighborhoods like Marine Park and Bay Ridge marked the 25th anniversary of 9/11 with solemn vigils honoring victims, first responders, and neighbors lost. Local officials and community leaders emphasized resilience, mutual support, and the responsibility to preserve the borough's memories for younger generations who did not experience the attacks firsthand.
