Inspectors found unsafe short-term rental conditions, ignored vacate orders, and unpermitted billboards near the Gowanus Expressway, highlighting serious fire safety and zoning concerns in local buildings.

Suspect Sought For Attack On Subway Rider In Brooklyn (patch.com) — Brooklyn riders are being urged to stay alert after police reported that a 72-year-old man was punched inside the DeKalb Avenue subway station in downtown Brooklyn on Tuesday. The victim suffered minor injuries and declined medical attention, while the suspect fled; NYPD has since released photos and is asking for the public's help identifying him.
   

4. Mamdani's "Talk to Tenants" Program Surfaces in Flatbush (bkreader.com) — Tenant organizers and city canvassers are working directly with residents in Flatbush, Brooklyn to address chronic housing violations and connect them with resources to organize for safer apartments. The new "Talk to Tenants" program targets buildings with long-neglected repairs, especially former Pinnacle properties now owned by Summit, while locals describe ongoing elevator, electrical, and maintenance problems despite increased city attention.
   

5. NY AG bans Brooklyn developer for six years over misused buyer funds (therealdeal.com) — A Brooklyn developer has been barred from selling condos statewide for six years after state investigators found he took buyer deposits at a Williamsburg project before approval and used funds outside escrow. He must repay about $6.72 million to affected buyers, who can either reclaim deposits with interest or apply them toward purchasing their original units once construction is complete.
