• Amityville man charged after car crashes into Deer Park home (newsday.com) — A car slammed through the front of a Deer Park home early Sunday morning, ending up fully inside the living room, but fortunately no residents were hurt. Police say the 19-year-old driver from Amityville was injured, then arrested on impaired driving and weapons charges after officers allegedly found a handgun and high-capacity magazine. He's expected to be arraigned Monday in Central Islip.
   

• Turtle found tethered, submerged inside a cage in lake at Long Island park (abc7ny.com) — Park rangers discovered an abused turtle tethered and caged underwater at Geiger Park Lake in Deer Park, with a fish hook lodged in its mouth. Responding initially to an e-bike complaint, they rescued the animal and rushed it to a West Islip veterinary hospital for emergency treatment, prompting concern about cruelty in a popular local park.
