• Deer Park Senior Named National Merit Semifinalist; 3 Others Honored (patch.com) — Deer Park residents can celebrate four high-achieving Deer Park High School seniors recognized in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program. Joseph Reina was named a Semifinalist, placing him among the top 1 percent of seniors nationwide, while classmates Vincent Cacciola, Kimberly Cho and Nobin Nath earned Commended Student honors for their strong PSAT performance.

• Serial Kings Park Bank Robber With 'No Funny Business' Demand Note Headed Back To Prison: DA (newsbreak.com) — A convicted serial bank robber has been sentenced to five-and-a-half to eleven years in prison after robbing a Flagstar Bank branch in Deer Park and another in West Babylon in December 2025. Investigators say he implied he had a weapon while demanding cash, and was later arrested in Copiague with stolen money, a threatening note, and cocaine. Additional, unrelated charges remain pending in Suffolk County.
