Bostwick’s on the Harbor will open for their 34th season on Thursday, April 30th. The restaurant will be open from Thursday through Sunday through the middle of June offering unforgettable sunsets, refreshing cocktails and delicious seafood inspired fare. Their hours will be 5 – 9 p.m. on Thursdays &amp; Sundays and 5 – 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. New menu items this year are as follows:

To enable community members to learn more about citizen participation on non-elected Town Board committees, the League of Women Voters of the Hamptons, Shelter Island &amp; North Fork is hosting a program titled “Learning About Serving on Your East Hampton, Southampton and Shelter Island Town Board Advisory Committees” on Monday, April 27th, 6:30-8 p.m. at the East Hampton Library, 159 Main Street.
Some committees to be included from the three towns are the Town Planning Board, Sustainability Committee, Community Housing Advisory Board, Housing Authority, Dark Skies Committee, Latino Advisory Committee, Board of Ethics, Historic Burying Ground Committee, Community Preservation Fund Advisory Board, and Hamlet Citizen Advisory Committee.
The program will include LWV members from the three towns speaking about how to participate on the Town advisory committees, when they meet, what the committees’ responsibilities are, and what they’ve accomplished.
Attendees are invited to ask questions after the presentations, and refreshments will also be served.

The Science of Science Fiction (A Free, Hybrid Lecture)

Have you ever looked at the transporter in Star Trek or the rotating, artificial gravity spaceship in 2001: A Space Odyssey and wondered “Is that actually possible?” We have all been enthralled by the imaginings of Arthur C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov, Robert Heinlein, Gene Roddenbury, Jules Verne and so many others who have foreshadowed future science. History is full of “fiction” that later became reality, like hand-held communication devices, tablets, and space satellites. But the term “science fiction” is a misnomer in that it is generally not fiction about science. The genre is more appropriately titled “speculative fiction” since authors are free to speculate about what might have been, what is, and what might be. When these speculations are carried out subject to the constraints of physical law, we have what is called “Hard Science Fiction.” This lecture will delight all who appreciate the so-called “sci-fi” genre as they will discover what might have been, what is, and what might yet be subject to the constraints of physical law.&nbsp;
After the lecture, weather permitting, in-person attendees will enjoy stargazing by telescope with Hamptons Observatory astronomers. Feel free to bring your own telescope.
<a href="https://www.astro.sunysb.edu/fwalter/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Dr. Frederick Walter&nbsp;</a>is an observational astronomer. He was a professor of Astronomy at Stony Brook University (SBU) since 1989 and has been Professor Emeritus since December 2025. He has a Bachelor of Science in Physics from MIT, received his PhD in Astronomy from the University of California at Berkeley, and spent eight years as a postdoc at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He was a member of the Instrument Development Team of the Goddard High Resolution Spectrograph, one of the first-generation science instruments on the Hubble Space Telescope. He has also observed with other space telescopes, including the International Ultraviolet Explorer. His research interests include galactic novae, the formation of low mass stars, the birth and death of stars, and stellar magnetic activity (stellar weather). Dr. Walter was formerly a member of the Board of Directors of the Associated Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA) and is the Stony Brook representative to the Astronomical Society of New York.&nbsp;

The author of twelve children’s books, screenplays, creator of a successful cookie company, and all-around treasured community member joins us for May’s Knowledge Friday. Currently adopting his stories into animated shorts and movies, Billy has an irresistible spark of imagination. Hear how his unlikely journey from a Manhattan based cookie company led to a life of continuous creativity, including the journey of becoming a writer with dyslexia. Billy is joined in conversation by Steve Hamilton, co-founder of Bay Street Theater.
And true to his spirit of giving back to the community, the altruist promises to bring cookies for the audience to enjoy! Likewise copies of Billy’s books will be available to purchase, with proceeds to benefit The Church.

Last year marked the 100th anniversary of the publication of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, a classic of American Literature that many think deepens in significance with repeated readings. A memorable literary and cultural reflection on The Twenties, it expresses a complex &nbsp;theme of longing and loss that resonates today. The green light at the edge of Daisy’s dock goes out as we move through the world, sadder, not always wiser, but it can still pulse occasionally, an ambiguous memory of what was or might have been in our own lives and in the life of our country.
This is a hybrid program, held in person and on Zoom. A Zoom meeting ID and password will be emailed to all participants the day of the event.

Share the Harvest Farm invites the community to celebrate the start of the season at its Spring Market on Saturday, May 2nd at St. Luke’s Church in East Hampton.
This lively, community-centered event will feature 20 local vendors offering artisan goods, prepared foods, and handmade items. Guests will enjoy live music by Reilly Rose, a curated raffle featuring local experiences and products, and a welcoming space to gather and connect.
Adding to the experience, guests will be able to enjoy “Spring in a Bottle” from Wölffer Estate, served by EAST + PALM to sip while they browse.
The Spring Market serves as an important fundraiser for Share the Harvest Farm, with participating vendors donating 20% of their proceeds to support the farm’s spring start-up costs. These funds help power the farm’s mission of growing and donating fresh, organically grown produce to families across the East End, often within hours of harvest.

ReWild Long Island is accepting applications for its 2026 Summer Environmental Internship in East Hampton, Amagansett, Montauk and Sag Harbor. Open to students in grades 8–12.
Interns grow organic food for local pantries, protect native pollinators, farm oysters, compost, and build real teamwork and leadership skills. They work alongside experienced environmentalists and leave knowing they made a genuine contribution to their community.
