• NUMC boss says repairing hospital could cost more than building new facility (newsday.com) — Nassau University Medical Center's CEO says it may be cheaper to build a brand-new hospital in East Meadow than repair the aging, problem-plagued building, which has leaks, broken boilers and shutdown operating rooms. State officials and local lawmakers are skeptical, and NUMC must present detailed proposals by December as it struggles with heavy debt and questions about its long-term future.
