1. Police seek man accused of stealing batteries from Home Depot in Huntington Station (tbrnewsmedia.com) — Police are asking Huntington Station residents to help identify a man who allegedly stole two high-value tool batteries from the Home Depot on New York Avenue on August 19. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward and taking anonymous tips by phone, app, or online, stressing that all information will be kept confidential.
   

2. Huntington Town Board Advances Future Tax Cap Vote (huntingtonnow.com) — Huntington's Town Board has advanced a measure that could allow piercing New York's tax cap in 2027, potentially raising the average homeowner's bill by about $25 a month. Residents also packed Town Hall to weigh in on the Cornerstone Melville development, the future of Manor Farm Park with Long Island Cares, and whether to move forward with a gas leaf blower ban.
   

3. LuLu Has Waited More Than 1,000 Days For A Home: Huntington Adoptable Pet Of The Week (patch.com) — LuLu, a shy 6-year-old tabby, has spent more than three years at Grateful Paw Cat Shelter and is featured as Huntington's adoptable pet of the week. Huntington-area residents are invited to meet her in East Northport, where volunteers hope someone patient and gentle will finally give her a permanent home after more than 1,000 days of waiting.
   

4. Rabid Raccoons Reported in Suffolk County (danspapers.com) — Huntington residents should know that Suffolk County is dropping 240,000 oral rabies vaccine baits across Huntington and nearby towns after rabid raccoons were confirmed in Northport and Islip. Officials urge people not to handle wild animals, to report strange behavior to police or DEC, and to keep pets' rabies shots up to date and consult vets after any possible exposure.
   

5. Long Island's Michael Carbonaro returns home for Paramount magic show (newsday.com) — Magician and Long Island native Michael Carbonaro is bringing his new family-friendly show, "Wonderboy," to The Paramount in Huntington this Friday, offering plenty of audience participation and nostalgic, kid-like wonder. Locals can expect inventive illusions, theatrical moments, and a homecoming performance shaped by Carbonaro's years entertaining crowds across Long Island.
