• Long Island Zoning Board Allows Muslim Boys School – [your]NEWS (yournews.com) — Islip's zoning board has cleared a proposed Islamic boys day school in Bay Shore to open, but blocked its plan for a 120-student dormitory as not allowed under town code. The ruling follows intense resident opposition and means students must commute daily rather than live on the 13-acre waterfront campus near a senior community.
   

• Huge Waves Draw Surfers To Long Island's Shore (southshorepress.com) — Islip has been hit with 48–52 mph wind gusts as a slow-moving nor'easter sends 8- to 10-foot swells crashing into Long Island's coast, drawing surfers to Long Beach despite hazards. Officials warn of downed trees, power line damage, and serious beach erosion as winds could intensify further, even while surfers chase rare overhead waves.
