Broadway with an eight-story, 106-unit condo building is still before the city's Zoning Board of Appeals. Neighbors raised fire safety, density, and boardwalk-impact concerns, while the developer argued the variances are reasonable; the board left the appeal open with a decision due within 62 days.

Nor'easter brings flooding, erosion and strong winds to Long Beach (liherald.com) — Long Beach endured heavy rain, strong winds and flooding from a recent nor'easter, damaging a beach access ramp, eroding dunes, and forcing West End road closures and a temporary LIRR Long Beach Branch shutdown. City crews prepared in advance, quickly cleared fallen trees, and officials highlighted ongoing resiliency work like new bulkheads, pump stations, and updated bulkhead standards, urging residents to sign up for emergency alerts.

4. Hochul announces $80 million in flood mitigation grants (saratogian.com) — Long Beach is set to receive part of $15.1 million in Green Resiliency Grants announced by Gov. Kathy Hochul to fund large-scale stormwater management projects. The statewide package aims to reduce flooding, modernize wastewater systems, and strengthen infrastructure without overburdening local ratepayers, with Long Beach's share supporting future climate-resilience and water-quality improvements.
   

5.
